Trekking and relax in Sicily

Day One: CATANIA – TAORMINA / GIARDINI
Arrival to Sicily and meet with our tour escort. Transfer to the hotel in the Taormina / Giardini Naxos area. Welcome cocktail and meeting for a description of the program. Dinner and overnight.

Day Two:  FROM ROCCAFIORITA TO FORZA D’AGRO’ (2 h walk)
Breakfast in the hotel. Transfer on bus to Roccafiorita where a trekking excursion starts; we will start with walking along a road that will take us along citrus trees and vines. We will start seeing the sea of Calabria and on our left Casalvecchio Siculo and Valle d’Agrò.  We will then go up a winding road that will take us to the town of Forza d’Agrò where we will walk along its charming streets to visit some churches and inviting bars. Lunch in a restaurant. Return on bus to Taormina, visit of the city. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.   

Day Three: FROM CASTELMOLA TO MONTE VENERE (2 h  walk)
Breakfast in the hotel and departure on bus to Castelmola from where our walk will start. We will visit this medieval town with its breathtaking views of Mount Etna, the bay of Naxos and Taormina. We will take a winding path up to Rocella. There are few mountains that can offer such panoramas. We will then return back to Castelmola. Lunch in a restaurant and descend on foot until Taormina along the Path of the Saraceni. Return on bus to the hotel, dinner and overnight
Day Four: GIARDINI NAXOS
Full board in the hotel. Day at leisure.

Day Five: THE CAVES OF MOUNT ETNA  ( 3-4 h walk)
During this excursion you can admire on of the most amazing lava flows of Mt. Etna. On the skirts of Mt. Etna you can find up to 200 lava caves that are formed when the outter part of the lava becomes hard whilst lava continues to flow on the inside. Lunch in a farmhouse with typical Sicilian products. Return to the hotel on bus. Dinner and overnight
Day Six: GIARDINI NAXOS
Full board in the hotel. Day at leisure.

Day Seven: MOUNTAINS AND GORGES
Breakfast in the hotel and departure on bus for a wonderful excursion along uncontaminated sites. From Giardini Naxos we will proceed towards the Valle dell’ Alcantara until we reach the famous Gorges. You will have the opportunity to walk up the cold waters. We will continue on the bus towards Castiglione that is located at 620 mt above the sea level on the northern skirts of Mount Etna. We will then continue on the mountain chain of the Peloritani until we reach the Tyrrenian coast. We will enjoy a rural lunch with typical produces such as cheeses, mushrooms, wines. Return on the bus to the hotel going past the Strait of Messina. Dinner and overnight.

Day Eight: GIARDINI NAXOS – CATANIA
Breakfast in the hotel and transfer to Catania Airport.
