A tour on the Christian roots in Sicily – Naples and surroundings – Rome

 

3 night stay in Taormina or surroundings + 1 night stay on the ferry from Sicily to Naples + 2 night stay in Naples or surroundings + 2 night stay in Rome. Full Board basis throughout the tour

Day 1:  arrival to Sicily
– arrival to Sicily and transfer to your hotel in Taormina or surroundings. Accommodation, dinner and overnight
Day 2: Siracusa – Visit of Siracusa with the archaeological park, Ortigia island with the Apollo temple and the Cathedral of Santa Maria. We could also visit the Catacamobs with the cript of S.Marcian, in fact one of the oldest churches in the history of the christianism. Return to your hotel
Day 3: Etna  - Taormina – Departure from your hotel for the excursion to Mount Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe. We will go up to 1900mt to the so-called Silvester Craters area where the remainings of recent lava flows can be seen. As an optional, clients can up with the cabin lift + off-road buses to the very summit. In the afternoon we will visit the charming town of Taormina. Visit of the historical center with the famous greek-roman theater. Return to your hotel
Day 4: Northern Sicily Coast – Today we depart from Taormina and head for the visit of Cefalù. Tour of this town dominated by the greeks, the phenicians, bizantines and romans. We will then proceed towards Palermo full of images that tell the lifes of Saint Paul. In the evening we will board the ferry departing for Naples. Overnight aboard
Day 5: Naples – Arrival to Naples harbour. Continue for the visit of the historical center where we will find the Cathedral with Saint Gennaro’s remainings. We will then enjoy a walk along Spaccanapoli. Lunch in a typical Neapolitan pizza restaurant. In the afternoon we will visit St. Gennaro’s Catacombs, situated on the hills of Capodimonte; the entrance is situated beside the church Madre del Consiglio Bon, that is a miniature replica of Saint Peters. Accommodation in your hotel, dinner and overnight
Day 6 – Herculaneum & National Archaeological Museum in Naples – Departure for Herculaneum, situated only 10 km from Naples, and where we will visit the ancient excavations of the city. Return to Naples for a visit of the National Archaeological Museum, where we can find roman empire art exhibits, that will help us to better understand the roman world of Saint Paul. Return to your hotel
Day 7 – Puteoli (nowadays Pozzuoli) – transfer to Rome -   Departure towards Pozzuoli and visit of the Flavio Amphitheatre. Proceed towards Rome. Accommodation in your hotel
Day 8 – Ancient Rome - Tour of Ancient Rome with the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, once the center of Rome, and the Church of San Clementina where we will visit the underground room of this ancient building
In the afternoon we will visit the Sacred Tomb of St. Paul. Return to your hotel
Day 9 – Departure -  Breakfast in the hotel. Departure
