Underwater Taormina

Day One: CATANIA – TAORMINA
Arrival to Catania Airport and transfer with private bus to the hotel. Meeting with the Divemaster to illustrate the program for the following days. Dinner and overnight

Day Two: BAIA DI MAZZARO’(max depth 12 m.)
Breakfast in the hotel and transfer to the beach of Mazzarò where we will meet the PADI instructor and expert Divemaster, for an easy and calm immersion in an area with no currents. We will enjoy the crystal water and abundance of marine life. Leave the beach to have lunch in a local restaurant with a fish based menu. In the afternoon we will enjoy a brief “siesta” before we leave for the visit of Taormina. Dinner and overnight in the hotel.

Day Three: THE BLUE CAVE (max depth 16 m.)
Breakfast in the hotel and transfer to the wonderful bay of Isolabella, the most renowned in Taormina. We will relax in the beach and later in the morning we will meet with our PADI instructor and expert Divemaster. Leaving from the beaches of Isolabella, we will enjoy one of the most amazing immersions of Taormina, adapt to all levels, and that will take us face to face with the shrimps of the Blue Cave. It’s also very nice to see the colorful sea sponges stuck to the walls. In alternative we can organize an immersion to the Shrimps’ Cave (max depth 18 m.). This cave is adapt to all levels and it represents a unique experience; a small ecosystem that survives inside this small cave where only 2 subs can fit at a time to view this amazing show with thousands of shrimps. After the immersion we return to the beach and to the restaurant where we will enjoy a fish lunch with typical Sicilian dishes. In the afternoon we will prepare for the next immersion. Dinner and overnight in the hotel.

Day Four: L'ISOLA BELLA (max depth 18 m.)
Breakfast in the hotel and transfer the bay of Isolabella, for an immersion along the natural reserve  of Isolabella with the PADI instructor and Divemaster. This is one of the easiest and most relaxing immersions yet full of sea life. After the immersion we will transfer to the skirts of Mount Etna for a typical lunch and tasting of local wines. In the afternoon we will go up to the Silvester Craters area where the remaining of recent lava flows can be seen. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.

Day Five: IL CAPO TAORMINA (max depth 30 m.)
Breakfast in the hotel. Transfer to the beach and meet with the PADI instructor and Divemaster and we will leave on the boat to reach the Capo Taormina. Today’s immersion is rather difficult and only adapt to experts with advanced licenses, as this is an area with possible currents and where the famous “The big blue” film was filmed. Full of marine life.
2500 years ago one of the biggest Roman ships sank here. The ship carried white marble columns that today rest along the walls of Capo Taormina.  For those that are not so expert we will organize an alternative immersion. Lunch in a local restaurant on the coast with Arab specialties. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner and overnight in the hotel.

Day Six: LA FOSSA DEL CORNOTAURO (max depth 45 m.)
Breakfast in the hotel and transfer to the beach. Meet up with our PADI instructor and Divemaster and depart on the boat for the Fossa del Cornotauro. Deep immersion, only adapt for experts in a surreal setting full of great emotions. Lunch in the hotel and afternoon at leisure. Transfer to a local typical restaurant in the evening for dinner with live folk music. Return to the hotel and overnight.

Day Seven: LO SCOGLIO DELLE SIRENE (max depth 35 m.)
Breakfast in the hotel and transfer to the beach of Mazzeo, where we will meet with the PADI instructor and Divemaster. Today we will enjoy a beautiful immersion to the Scoglio delle Sirene. Drifting walls that are covered with white sponges and corals that represent a wonderful scenery. Lunch in a restaurant on the beach. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner and overnight in the hotel.

Day Eight: TAORMINA – CATANIA
Breakfast in the hotel. Transfer to Catania Airport and departure of the group.
